Welcome to my web site!  In addition to amateur radio, my other hobbies include fly fishing, backpacking and Scouting.   Since several of my fellow hams have asked if my call sign is Scout related, I thought I'd go ahead and show you what a middle-aged Boy Scout looks like!

When not traveling,  I prefer to hang out on the Sawnee Mountain Amateur Group repeaters in Forsyth County, Georgia.  I webmaster that site as well as several others on this page on a volunteer basis.  I serve the Northeast Georgia Council at the Vice President for Corporate Communications (a volunteer position) as well as head the technology committee for the Council.  I'm a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and the former Scoutmaster of Troop 39 in Cumming, Georgia.  I'm also active in Mowogo Lodge, Order of the Arrow.

Every year or so I take a group of Scout volunteers backpacking out west- these "Geezer Treks" are always loads of fun and great stress relievers.  The last three have been to the Grand Canyon-- this year will be Yellowstone National Park instead!

Most importantly of all, however, is my association with the Mountain View church in Forsyth County, where I have been an active member since we first began the work in 1995.   I have served the church in several capacities-- Bible class teacher, former deacon, former elder & currently as the webmaster.

Rather than show you my boring and not-very-interesting Ham shack, here's a few photos of the Amateur Radio part of my life-- especially some of my best friends.

Here's a shot of my buddy Ferrell Brown (KE4QDC) and my son Jim (KI4CWM) working 40 meters during Field Day 2005.   Ferrell's a real friend, having loaned me gear, helped me string antennas, helped me fix problems.  He even helped me find a home for my cat.  (How's that for a pal?)

Jim got his old man interested in ham radio- rather than the other way around.  You da man, Jim!

Here's a shot of one of our informal Saturday morning coffee gatherings.  Usually we meet at Jittermug's, but they were closed for Thanksgiving (2005) so we met at Starbuck's instead.  Left to right is Bill, Nick, Chris (behind Nick), Ed, Jerry and Butch.
